Effaclar Serum is La Roche-Posay's most concentrated anti-blemish product, built around a triple-acid complex. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble and travels into the pore to dissolve the mix of sebum and dead cells that forms blackheads and whiteheads. Glycolic acid, the smallest alpha-hydroxy acid, exfoliates the surface to smooth the rough, bumpy texture that congested skin develops and to fade lingering marks. LHA works more slowly for gentle micro-exfoliation between the two. Niacinamide calms the redness and inflammation that acids can provoke, so the serum can be used nightly by most skin types. Over eight weeks it reduces blackheads, refines pores, evens texture and lightens post-acne marks in a way a wash-off cleanser cannot.
