Senna is the plant world's proven stimulant laxative: its sennosides pass untouched to the colon, where gut bacteria activate them to stimulate the bowel wall and draw in fluid, producing a movement in six to twelve hours. Taken at night, it works by morning. It is genuinely effective, pharmacopoeia-listed and cheap, and it carries the same honest terms as every stimulant: occasional use for the stubborn episode, cramping if the dose is strong, and not a daily habit, because a bowel driven daily learns to wait for the whip. Soflax declares its dose plainly: senna extract standardised to 13.5mg sennosides per tablet, the pharmacopoeial overnight strength in a 20-tablet pack.
